Phia Oac National Park Verified listing

Discovered by the French in the early 20th century, Phia Oac National Park impresses visitors with its majestic and poetic landscapes.
Recognized by UNESCO as a Global Geopark due to its unique geological system with high mountain ranges, abundant rare minerals, and diverse ecosystems with many rare flora and fauna species, Phia Oac is located within a global geopark area, making its topography diverse and rich, from deep valleys to winding rivers creating picturesque and poetic landscapes, to towering mountain ranges, creating a grand and splendid scene. In addition, Phia Oac National Park also has a diverse and special geological structure with the interweaving of various types of rocks such as basalt, limestone, and granite, creating many rare minerals such as silver, gold, tin, and tungsten.
The park is divided into three main areas: strict conservation zone, ecological restoration zone, and administrative service zone, with diverse vegetation including tropical rainforests, moist evergreen forests, and a unique type of primary forest characteristic of Northern Vietnam, known as mossy forests.
Within the park, there are 1,287 diverse plant species, including 90 rare and endangered plant species listed in the Vietnam Red Data Book, such as Paphiopedilum stone, agarwood, honey fungus, Podocarpus fleuryi, and orchids. Not only diverse in terms of flora, Phia Oac also has a rich animal ecosystem with 496 different vertebrate species and thousands of invertebrate species, especially 58 rare species inhabiting this ecological forest, including 30 mammal species listed in the Vietnam Red Data Book and 12 reptile species, 12 of which are extremely rare and need to be conserved. Moreover, there are numerous precious medicinal plants native to Vietnam on Mount Phia Oac, such as Paris polyphylla, Cordyceps sinensis, and mountain ginseng.
